Jersey Shore... I don't think I've hated any 8 people I've never met more.
I don't typically condone violence towards women, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh on the outside and smile on the inside when I saw that whore get punched in the mouth.

I've seen several movies recently that I really enjoyed. They're not new movies, but were clearly too well-written to be popular in America.
CJ-7: Probably the most "serious" Stephen Chow movie I've seen. Very touching story interlaced with humor that only Stephen Chow can pull off.
Ink: It starts out a little slow, but turns out to be a damn good movie. If you start watching it, don't turn it off too quickly. The story develops very well.
Mirrormask (one of the most visually stunning movies I've seen)
On the popular end, I watched District 9 this past weekend and was quite impressed.
I don't have the time it takes to recover from the day
I sit and moan and mope and groan and never have my say
A crown of thorns from which is born a little baby bird
To fly away and have its day is nothing but absurd

As much as that girl was a "whore", that guy was 10x more of an asshole. But who knows what's real and what's acting these days anyway...
the messenger - very good movie. woody harrelson is an underrated actor. ben foster is great in it too.
shrink - kevin spacey delivers, but the rest of the cast does not. starts out strong, but loses steam.
snow angels - david gordon greene is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors. this is one of his serious movies, and it rivals george washington, one of my favorite films i have seen. sam rockwell is unfuckwitable.
star trek - not a huge trek fan, but i did notice some of the nods to the series, and i actually really enjoyed this movie. good popcorn blockbuster in the vein of iron man.
facing ali - not as good as the espn 30 for 30 doc that aired a few months ago, but this gives an interesting take on the way that ali affected his opponents' lives so profoundly.
an education - carey mulligan is great, and the pacing of the movie is perfect until the end, which feels abrupt and rushed. i know it's a true story, but the conclusion definitely fell short in the directing department.
observe and report - another david gordon greene flick, this time a comedy. a dark comedy of course. this isn't in the league of eastbound and down, but it improves upon foot fist way, and seth rogan gives the best performance of his career. there are more than enough laughs to justify the watch.
extract - disappointing comedy. ben affleck gives maybe the most surprisingly hilarious performance i have seen (think tom cruise in tropic thunder), but it's not enough to carry this film that is otherwise short on laughs, despite the likable cast.
paper heart - this was cute, but not much more. michael cera plays michael cera again, which isn't a bad thing, and charlene yi is adorable, but that's about as far as this movie goes. it wasn't bad, just drags on after the first 50 minutes or so.
adventureland - probably my favorite comedy of the year. good writing, good performances, and good laughs.
in the loop - sharp, witty, poignant. maybe i should take back that comedy of the year award and put it here.
trailer park boys: countdown to liquor day - i was so excited to see this movie, and unfortunately i was left disappointed once again. a better effort than the first, but still ultimately fails to live up to the hilarity of my all time favorite sitcom.
i recently saw sherlock holmes. it was pretty good, but i got the feeling that robert downey jr could not do accents.
I saw it too. His accent didn't bother me. Then again, it's not the Doyle version of Holmes, it's their own interpretation, so I guess he can talk however they like.
