Yeah, "The Tent" is easily one of my favorite songs on this. I don't see how people don't like it, but I also can't imagine people enjoying "Information" or hating on "Gathering Pebbles."

The segue from the final line of the first chorus going into the verse, "through the door, through the door, gotta get back to you," gives me fucking chills. I also love the Pink Floyd-sounding horny synth line at 2:14 and throughout. This song rules, fuck the haters.

Chuckles is just very different and I believe over time will become even more enjoyable.

I could do one of those visual comparisons and Leitmotif and El Cielo would probably have a similar abundance of love, but I feel like all the weight I would give them is nostalgia driven. I like listening to them once or twice a year, but the sentimental value is so much greater than that because I used to listen to and love them so much more. But it's just not true for me anymore. I would rather listen to Pariah 10 times before I listen to El Cielo. I would rather listen to Chuckles 20 times before listening to Leitmotif. Not 20 times in a row, but I think you get my point.

Maybe Upon Returning should have started at 2:14 - that section of the song kicks ass. Sounds like parts of Zeppelin and other classic bands.

Good point Frank . . . I do honestly play El Cielo and PPD on a very regular basis. Mainly because I have guitar tabs to those songs and I enjoy playing along while listening I do find Leitmotif to be boring overall and C&mS will overtake that album in time . . .

Only time I listen to really anything from CWOA is right before a concert. I always viewed that album as a real disappointment. And I never listened to Coquette, so I can't compare them.

I'm trying to force myself to like this album, since I love dredg, but I can't. Music is bad, lyrics are bad, vocals are bad, production is bad. It just feels like everything was rushed. I know that they were going for a raw sound and trying not to overthink things, but you've got to start with a good base.

Do you think anyone that overhears you listening to this album, would say "Wow, who is that!" I just don't see that happening. Hopefully, they can pump out another album very soon to make up for this garbage.

Here's the advice I would give dredg for their next album if I had license as a creative manager to shake things up:

                            1. Gavin has to agree to take a poetry course and focus all of his energies on lyrics, and making them unique, poignant and off-the-cuff. The goal would be a large amount of smirks and "Wow. Clever."s from the others until they're allowed into the songs. Any cliches will sound an alarm, and trigger a shock collar that must be worn at all times.

                            2. Drew would have to agree to take on double duty. Since Drew seems to be the most eccentric, he gets to write the notes that are to be sung by Gavin, as well as writing his consistently interesting bass licks. This should at least effectively break Gavin of the predictable patterns he's starting to follow in his vocals, and freshen things up. Drew only needs to work on this part once the songs are nearly written, he just needs to write an eccentric yet heart wrenching solo on top of the music, then pass it to Gavin to put the words to it.

                            3. Mark and Dino would concentrate on the core of the song writing. Focus would be on two things: the dichotomy of both wacky and simple. Dino’s strengths in the wacky department will be brought to the forefront often, and then brought down to earth with more simple passages. Dynamics are the key. I would also challenge the two of them not to stop writing TWO songs until they are about 8 minutes long each. If when these songs are complete, there is too much “dead air” the songs can be trimmed as needed, but will hopefully result in at least a couple 6-7 minute epics to anchor the beginning and end of the album. I would also challenge the two to play with plenty of time signature and tempo changes.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Lou Pearlman, band-personality-definer extraordinaire.

I think Gavin as "Smirky," Drew as "Eccentric," and Dino as "Wacky" are all great, but might I suggest "Sexy" or "Stoic" instead of "Simple" for Mark? And we need a bad boy, too. Maybe Dino can be a bad-boy kind of wacky, like Russell Brand?
