This CD is unbelievably consistent. 76 straight minutes of awesome music. That's hard to do.

True, the jumps in there are really awful. Still can't help listening to it over and over, awesome album. Enjoy Time Flies as well now, after a couple of listens.

Well I downloaded the leak, but actually I'm not really enjoying it. There are many clips with that recording... I will only be able to fully judge the album, when I've got the hard copy, just as it was with Mars Volta's 'Octahedron' and dredg's Pariah.

ahh..thanks..I'll give it maybe 1 or 2 plays and wait for something better. It may not come up for a little while given how some leaks have been of late...like 1-week or even less before the street date.

Quality is pretty poor, along the lines of the original TPTPTD leak I guess. I'm not someone who even pretends I can make myself wait for the final release of something I've been waiting years for, though.
Anyway, I'm fairly relieved after skimming through it for the first time. The high points are unquestionably better than anything on FoaBP, even if there are some sections that drag (what can one expect from a 55-minute song cycle?). I haven't really listened to Disc 2 yet, but I'd say "The Blind House" and the title track from the first disc are the best thing SW has done since the In Absentia/Deadwing era, by far. Unlike "Anesthetize," a lot of this stuff manages to be atmospheric and complex without boredom setting in.Last edited by Corroded Halo; September 1, 2009, 07:05 AM.

I love when there is some kind of INFLUENCE of other bands in a song, but I don't like straight rip offs.
Anyway, Porcupine Tree is a great band, I love almost all their recordings, and I can't wait to hear the rest of new album.

I'm a huge, hard-core, Pink Floyd fan, so this rip off is really pissing me off. I will surely skip 'Time Flies' on new Porcupine Tree record.
I'm also a hard-core Pink Floyd fan. Yet I find it pretty comical this pissing you off. What the hell hasn't been done and copied and repeated hundreds of times already? In this case, Wilson said it was a homage to Pink Floyd and that era. For it to remind you of material from Floyd, in this case, Animals, shouldn't be exactly a shocker. Hell, I'm glad PTree targets on and emulates progressive music from that era. This isn't the first time they've made music that incorporates Floyd song structures. Listen to Voyage 34. The main guitar riff from the majority of the album is a straight out rip-off of ABitW. Where as "Time Flies" reminds me of Animals, it is still quite different. I already like the song, but am eager to hear the full unedited sequence.

True, but I have to bow down my head in shame and admit I don't have them memorized well enough to see the PT parallels...

Originally posted by Corroded Halo View PostWhat's worse, the only part that really deviates from it -- that breakdown after the second chorus -- is even more noticeably ripped straight from "Prodigal."It's a beautiful song though. Should work fine for people who never heard either Drown With Me or Prodigal.
Originally posted by Hi-Fi View PostWell, I think that Time Flies is a complete rip off of couple of songs from Pink Floyd - Animals.
