As can probably be gleaned from some of my other posts, I've been reading lots and lots of Dan Savage. Old archives, books, interviews. I'm kind of addicted.

I agree with 95% of what he says, but that other 5%? Damn, I strongly disagree. grr! Also? it's kind of unsettling that a man I admire so much would most likely hate me in real life.

Currently Reading: Star Wars: Death Star
Then: World Without End or Water for Elephants (unless my wife gets me to read Artemis Fowl?,,,lol)

oooh, sounds good

it has been. i think blaut misses a lot of the cupability of christianity and the desire for a new neo-christendom. but blaut was only writing in the early 90s; a lot has happened--academically speaking--since then.

I'm almost finished with The Terrible Girls, by Rebecca Brown. It's a collection of short stories about women who obsess over, mistreat, scorn, long for, or revenge themselves upon other women. Seriously. It's horribly depressing, but beautifully written. All of the stories are connected by either theme or people. Many of them are allegorical, where the conceit is outrageous, but makes complete sense when applying it toward society or relationships.

This is my first introduction to Rebecca Brown.
