My Dad LOVES that movie, he has a signed letter from the lead actor giving him the ability to use any copyrighted material from the second movie.

Neil Patrick-Harris, Nathan Fillion in a cheesy, comedic musical. 3 15min or so acts.
I bought this from iTunes. Very nice, though I was a bit disappointed with the 3rd act.

I'm sick today, so I watched Into the Wild. It was stunningly good. Everything about it. Scenery, acting, story (once again truth is better than fiction).

Just . . . I didn't know anything about this guy. I had vague knowledge that this was a biopic. I rented the movie because I wanted to hear Eddie Vedder's music.

God what a good film. Why did I not see this all over the Academy Awards?

some complained about that Trathena..I honestly wasn't moved that much by it..maybe partially for the fact I saw WRISTCUTTERS: A LOVE STORY right before that and was blown away by that film, that ITW just seemed dull and tame at that point. I liked Hirsch in ALPHA DOG anyway.

I did not get in to STEP BROTHERS last night as the line was too long even tho I had WON passes, lol. And DARK KNIGHT 's gonna have to wait for awhile..don't really need to see it at a packed theater. I'll probably wait a week or 2 and see it in IMAX anyway. Rented the 1st 2 discs of UNDECLARED instead...as I loved FREAKS AND GEEKS and have meant to check that show out ever since.

A friend of mine was in a production of that. I missed it. Oh well.

I watched it, it bored the hell out of me. Then reading up on him and learning the fact that there was a bridge less than a mile down the river makes me think the guy was a complete moron. Why would you live in the wilderness for several months and never explore the area you are inhabiting? If he had just done that he would still probably be alive today.

This was my first thought as soon as the movie ended. :-)

That is a comma splice. See? Now that's boring. You don't know from boring. ;-)

Yes, I read that too. But to be fair, he may have known about it, but by the time he realized he'd poisoned himself, he was too weak to walk that far. It's true he had tried to cross the water, so he was concerned, but he'd been doing pretty well up to that point, and maybe he didn't know how dire his situation was until he ate the wrong plant.

I can understand why he wouldn't travel very far from his trailer. Most of his time there was during the winter. He probably thought he was being "safe" to stay close to shelter. And he wanted to stay away from civilization. But maybe the book explains more.

I don't know. I'm not trying to be an apologist for him, but I respect what he was doing and his reasons for doing it. His quote: "If we admit that human life can be ruled by reason, the possibility of life is destroyed," hell, I don't even know if I agree with that, but that's where his head was at. That's how he was thinking and living. Compare that to the mindset of the typical person this day and age, and he was pretty fucking amazing.

Trathena added 2 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

Last night I watched a documentary on P.O.V. about the 2004 election. There was this woman on it--she was a poll worker--who actually said that voting is a privilege, not a right. Then she continued on that being an American citizen is a privilege, not a right.

I just saw it! Rented it. It's very good. I can't believe I'd not heard of it before, because Fugit and Sossaman are two of my favorite actors. I was delighted to see the brilliant Will Arnet too.

As far as being "better" than Into the Wild, well, they're too different for me to compare them that way. Both films are great.

But thank you for recommending Wristcutters. It was a real treat.
