I am thinking about avoiding the dredg forum for a while. I am just at a loss of anything positive to say about this new direction they've taken. This has to be what it felt like to be a Smashing Pumpkins fan when Zeitgeist came out.

I think you'll be good on the next album. I really don't get the feel that this is a "new direction", I think this was just an experiment. They've done it, they got it out of their system and the next one will be totally different.

Well, when Zeitgeist came out, it wasn't a complete surprise. Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain did Zwan...

The only thing that saved that was Paz Lenchantin.

Besides, the SP stuff after Zeitgeist was even worse the Zeitgeist was....in my opinion at least.

But I'm with Billy on the dredg thing. I don't take it as a new direction, just an experiment. If it really is a new direction, I'd probably be out too. I don't mind the album as much as when I first listened to it, but I really don't like Dan the Automator that much. Too hip-pop for me. Plus, god knows dredg hires a new producer for each album. At least they have thus far.

"Two Rabbis argued late into the night about the existence of God, and, using strong arguments from the scriptures, ended up indisputably disproving His existence. The next day, one Rabbi was surprised to see the other walking into the Shul for morning services.

"I thought we had agreed there was no God," he said.

"Yes, what does that have to do with it?" replied the other."

That's actually my expectation, also. Everything about the album just feels wrong; from the idea to rush recording to bringing in someone else to write songs on a "dredg" album. They've certainly removed themselves from the pedestal I had them on previously.

The one that said this wasn't a new direction, but more like an experiment (which Gnomad said in his post that I was paraphrasing).

Besides, I didn't even know you were a Billy, hahaha. To me, you are now "The Goat". Awesome, I know.

Not that I know of, but Chris DeGarmo helped write Ode To The Sun and Spitshine.

That must have been what I was thinking of.
