Sorry, but my own ears tell me that the guy sounds like a cheap Thom Yorke knockoff.

So, I just checked with a friend on this one.

      Me: Do you like Muse?
Bernie: A song here and there
Me: Who would you compare the singer to?
      Bernie: Thom Yorke

[14:09] AnewKINDofFEELIN: Do you like Muse?
      [14:10] Paul: yea
      [14:10] AnewKINDofFEELIN: You would
[14:10] Paul: most their faster songs
[14:10] Paul: the slow stuff not so much
      [14:10] AnewKINDofFEELIN: Okay
[14:10] AnewKINDofFEELIN: You'll at least answer this honestly
[14:10] Paul: whatever teegan and sarah
[14:10] AnewKINDofFEELIN: Who does the singer remind you of?
      [14:10] Paul: thom yorke

Seriously, both of you need to buy a copy of The Bends.
maybe you lump all brittish singers together. they're 2 of my favorite bands, but i don't think they sing alike. like i said, all they have in common is fronting brittish rock bands and playing piano and both were influenced by buckley.

Yeah, I agree. I love both bands, practically equally, but Bellamy doesn't sing like Yorke. He doesn't write music that's similar to the songs Yorke writes. He doesn't write lyrics similar to the lyrics Yorke writes. He plays his guitar in a different way, faster with more effects.

He doesn't sing like Yorke. He doesn't even have a similar voice. These two bands are very different: different styles; different purpose; different personality; different method; different genre, even.

And neither singer needs voice lessons.

You stop it! The "breathing thing" isn't weird!

THERE WILL BE NO DISPARAGING OF THE BREATHING THING!

Gotta agree with you there. Someone should edit together a video of a bunch of clips of muse doing the breathing thing just back to back.

Oh and I totally hear Thom Yorke too. It has the same flow and forced falsetto.

What does "forced falsetto" mean? Like, falsetto with power behind it? Like Fair to Midland's singer? and by flow, do you mean the length of the vocal bars, the sustained notes? like how Gavin extends his notes?

I mean, if people are going to nitpick, might as well not fuck around.

Edit: I'll throw my bone in: I think if anything, their voices have a similar timbre, but that's about it.

No one said that it's wrong to like Muse. I just said that their singer is a cheap Thom Yorke. As for all british singers sounding like Thom Yorke, I give you:

                                Davey McManus
                                Steven Wilson
                                PJ Harvey
                                Damon Albarn
and last, but certainly not least, I give you Lady Sovereign

I wouldn't say that any of them sound like a cheap Thom Yorke.
