i'm really suprised by the amount of people here that didn't expect "waterbourne" (the live recording) to change names for the record.

they wouldn't name a song after a shitty movie that has no connection lyrically.

simply just a way of remembering, "oh hey yeah! the song with the piano part we used in that ghey movie, waterbourne. i don't have a real title yet"

mostly likely, that song is on the album, under one of the titles we're unsure of.

unless that song sucks, cause i forget. i heard it once a long time ago.

i'm not getting the impression that people didn't expect the name of the song to change. the only thing that is going on here is that people are saying that waterborne = song x....when no one has heard song x at all...

that's the only real debate going on here.

...and I was almost sold on the fact that "Waterbourne" was going to be the closing track or close to it... It's just so damn epic...

Since we're throwing out other ideas, after re-listening to Waterbourne, any chance it could be "Long Days And Vague Clues"? I don't recall if the idea was to write a song about it or just name a song.... but I think some of the lyrics could tie in to that title.

The entire second half of the song is about the anticipation of knowing he's dying today and all the weight that carries. Also the chorus could fit in with "vague clues"

Isnt that the song written for the treasure hunters, though? The lyrics to Waterbourne don't really have anything to do with a treasure hunt.

That was my question.... does that song even have to be about a treasure hunt? Was the deal "name a song" or "have a song written about it that you name"?

I thought that Long Days was just the name of a song and actually didn't have any direct correlation with the meaning...

...which is why being an instrumental makes sense...

We were at one point asked about lyrical direction, but that was promptly squashed by us for the mere fact that a stupid name is one thing, but stupid lyrics would have been bad. Three people with limited musical experience at the time. So, correct you are.

However, it was asked kind of randomly and probably wasn't planned to even be considered. It was most likely going to be an instrumental from the start. But Gavin was nice enough to ask anyway.

the recordings i have of each of those songs are quite different, actually.

i hope they're both used on the album.

I'm thinking which one of these demos/live numbers are recorded official in PPD recording session.
