  • Re: the Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion?

Say what you will about Germany - they've been good to dredg. When the band was still struggling to book small clubs here in the states, they were playing festivals over there. It makes sense for the band/their label to reach out to some of their most loyal publications and promoters first, and that's clearly what they've done with this.

A leak is always inevitable, and these things happen in stages. My guess - a leak in the beginning of April of an unmastered, and then a week or two later of a mastered. But that's just a guess.

I'm willing to bet the promos are going out sooner than a couple of weeks. With the kind of information that is starting to trickle out, especially if there are watermarked copies already on the loose, we could see this leak REALLY soon.

Watermarking has never prevented or slowed down a leak.

also, a few months back, i think someone here compared waterborne to the killers, so i think its quite possible.

I've been meaning to add to this discussion...boy am I slow.

Well, I have high hopes for this one considering CWOA is my least favorite (I mean that in the nicest way) and I'll be subconsciously comparing the two. I, like others on this board, don't want an el cielo 2 or a combo of el cielo and CWOA. I want progression and innovation. I want the band to experiment and create something unique. Hell, I don't care if it's 'dancey' or 'electro.' Radiohead (WAIT let me finish) were never afraid of taking chances and evolving despite what their fanbase thought. While you may not enjoy Kid A, you have to admit it was a middle finger to anyone expecting another 'High and Dry.' If I don't like it, it will be because they took a step back and tried to recreate something.
                  I hope I'm being clear.

I might not like the new album when it comes out (I've not been fond of the things I've heard so far), but if they actually manage to change their sound the same way they managed to do so between leitmotif and el cielo, i'll be more than pleased

Yes they do. I write music reviews for a website and anytime something is watermarked that we handle it literally doesn't leak until preorders are sent out and people receive them. I'm sure there are ways around the watermak but I surely don't know them.

I'd much much rather an El Cielo 2 than the stuff I've heard so far...

The problem with this theory is you're assuming everyone that gets a promo has theirs watermarked.

Yeah I doubt we've come close to the amount of traffic we'll get once people start posting 30 second clips of songs on the forum...

                                Remember that? Ugh.
