  • Re: Album Discussion: The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion

Can someone confirm all versions of packaging for PPD (jewel case, super jewel case, digipak)? I still don't have this album on cd, and I don't like those super jewel cases, I want to buy a regular jewel case or digipak, so I would like to know all versions that are out there in stores.

At least in the US, the digipack is the only one I am aware of.

Listening to this album makes me feel gutted that I just haven't been able to get into CAMS as much.

PPD has officially become my favorite dredg album. Someone else said it, but the second half (RUOK to the end) is possibly the greatest buildup and finish to an album ever. I've been listening to Cartoon Showroom a lot lately, and it gets me excited/nervous to have a kid (not expecting, but talking about it with the wife). It makes me wish I had been able to listen to it when I was just a kid. It would have changed my life.

Fawst, my feelings and emotions exactly. I've posted that long time ago and maybe this is what you remember. I have two kids and got connected deeply with that particular song instantly. For me the album is a masterpiece and Cartoon Showroom is one of the most beautiful aspects of it.

we had a birthdays party of our basist yesterday in his house and there of course was dredg on the player. it was a nice moment because among all the guests i was the person that knows him the longest. and when we met in 2005, it occured that we both know "some underground american band dredg". it was some months before i started playing drums and now we have our own band...
so it was "Pariah" that was playing and we all couldn't resist to tap, hum or sing along (the alcohol did it thing of course too

looking from a perspective it is to me the most mature of thiers works to date and yes, Chuckles only made it to be more appreciated.

Question: Does anybody else have The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion on vinyl? I just purchased it off amazon and I must say I'm very disappointed in the audio quality. Did I make a bad purchase or are they all this way?

The packaging, appearance and psychical quality of the vinyl and album is superb. It looks great and feels great but the audio quality is terrible. It sounds extremely compressed. And not only that, the vinyl plays at a faster BPM than the album.

I don't mean RPM, I mean BPM. The El Cielo vinyl plays at 45 rpm though most vinyl play at 33 rpm. The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion vinyl is clearly made to play at 33 rpm but if you start the vinyl and cd at the same time, the vinyl will quickly be ahead of the cd. This most likely attributes to the lack in sound quality.

Sorry if this question has already been addressed. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Not trying to complain, just trying to figure out if I need to buy this vinyl elsewhere.

I seem to recall some audio problem(s) with the first pressin' of the PPD vinyl, but I think it was only a skip in "Saviour." Sorry I can't be of much help.

Seven. One to change it, five to complain that the old one was better, and one talk about Gavins weight.

I think there's something wrong with your vinyl or your equipment.

To test this I made a recording of Pariah playing from vinyl (playing at standard 33 RPM) through an amplifier and comparing it to the MP3 on my PC. They both last 4:07 seconds and there is little difference in Bass/treble/pitch. Although I do think the highs on vinyl are too pronounced when I listen to it through my Sennheiser headphones. Overall I think the sound quality of the vinyl is excellent though, one of the better vinyl's I've listened to.

I hope this helps you track down what the problem is!
