Re: Most influential bands/songs on your music taste?
I'm going to kind of order mine in the order that they came into my life and affected my musical taste. I'm also just going to include the song that I associate with finding that band:
Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla
Rush - 2112
Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
Pink Floyd - Welcome to the Machine
Jimmy Buffett - Fruitcakes
David Allan Coe - The Ride
Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
This is where I kind of went through a period of boredom with music. While everyone else was enjoying the hell out of "grunge," I didn't really care for it. I thought it was all kind of put on and the music just didn't do much for me.
Hum - The Pod
Blind Melon - Change (I started liking them late, like 2001ish)
dredg - Of the Room
Porcupine Tree - The Creator Has a Mastertape
Opeth - To Rid the Disease
Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over
Ataxia - basically the entire first album
Fiona Apple - Sleep to Dream
Cat Power - Free
Mew - Eight Flew Over, One Was Destroyed (live in Vancouver....I wish I could go back)
Murder By Death - Three Men Hanging
and in the very recent past:
Emily Wells - Symphony 6: Fair Thee Well & the Requiem Mix
Don Cabellero - Room Temperature Lounge
Pinback - Seville
