I think I've received only 1 mix from someone, but it was neat. People underestimate the power of a gesture like that.

I don't listen to bands with only one or two good songs. They have to have atleast 7 good songs for me to listen to them otherwise they get boring fast.

this is my preliminary list..so I know what you mean having to put a lot of thought into it, esp since this guy has a ton of progressive rock and doesn't like one of my favorite bands, Pain of Salvation.

I've made several compilations/mix discs/tapes for people. They thought it was nice.. but that I was a major nerd for actually spending a few hours a day for several days getting the artists and then putting the songs in the perfect order.

yeah that's the thing, this is a mix tape thing on mikeportnoy.com where their are a lot of prog people..and esp the dude I got..knows a ton of the stuff, so it wasn't simple to just pick out 10 great songs or whatever. And the bands I listed are probably not typical for Dredg fans aside from maybe Marillion. I'd give him some PT, but he has a lot of their stuff and my live/rare-ities is pretty small for them.
