That used to happen to me quite often. It was a sense of loss of control, as if I wasn't going to return to my normal state or something. It scared me a few times, but never enough to actually quit. I learned to control it by some strange advice a friend gave me. He said something along the lines of "Just think of a drug as a wave that you're riding. You're going up and down on this wave and feeling every single twist and turn of it and you might get wet, but the wave won't permanently alter you."

Since then I've never freaked out or had a mini panic attack no matter how high I got.

I think I've been getting some small panic attacks when I've been smoking lately. not even excessive amounts either. has anyone heard of this or experienced it? I smoke to calm down, not to freak the fuck out and feel like I can't breathe.

The last 3-4 times, I've become extremely paranoid. I mean frighteningly so. I never thought of them as panic attacks, but they're pretty awful to experience. I've actually considered stopping this shit and going back to alcohol. Or nothing.
