When you all mention buying, I sure hope you don't mean bootlegs. Buying boots is something that the bootleg SHARING and TRADING community is very much against. That's why it's called that. Bootlegs should be traded and shared, not sold to make a quick buck.

99.9% of the time i would back you up on the topic of buying and selling fan recordings, as i'm sure any other taper on here would as well.

but when the band says "sell our recording and give us a cut"

mark said i should sell this dvd and give them a cut from the sales...

then i don't see a problem with it, as long as the band gets a substantial cut

i can tell you that drew has told me the same thing, on occasion. I just never wanted to deal with the hassle of selling/taking orders/figuring out money %/actually having to work on the concerts in the minimal free time i have.

so, though it's not a practice i'd normally condone, if one had a good rapport with the band, like hungover does, i'd say go for it.
