When we were discussing the album cover for the first time, I recall someone saying that the bird was real and was held as a creationist argument against evolution because no bird could possibly evolve like that.

I guess if anyone remembered what thread we talked about the album cover in, that would be helpful enough. I just couldn't remember what thread it was in... one of the threads about the album leaking... which hardly narrows it down at all.
