  • Songs on Tour

The band need to play more variety of their songs....judging from the setlists...here are some songs they need to play more often, or at all..

    Catch without Arms

    Not That Simple

    Zebra Skin

    Matroshka

    Spitshine

    Whoa is Me

    18 People

    Caonvalescent

    Sorry But It's Over

    Scissor Lock

    Lechium

    Penguins in the Desert

as well as their b-sides as fan treats every so often.

If they would incorporate the above tracks into setlists just 2 songs a night and remove 2 other songs a night (not always the same 2 on either account), their set lists would be much more varied....

    Re: Songs on Tour

thank god that they're not playing any of the cwoa songs that you mentioned. i'd much rather hear the ones they're playing consistently now without those to leave room for el cielo and to a lesser extent leitmotif stuff.

i would absolutely love for them to throw in whoa is me and 18 people instead of say, it only took a day. personally i'd like to see one of those two instead of of the room once in a while, but of the room is a pretty huge fan favorite so i can't argue with it being played every night.

obviously they're not going to play lechium and penguins in the desert might be nice once in a while but definetely not on a regular basis.

but that's all opinion. i see what you're getting at, but they ahve been switching it up at least a little bit while sticking to their guns. that said, i cannot wait to see them play 18 people again.

Maybe they'll add in some more CWOA songs in this next tour, since the album will have officially been released by then.

I'm really digging Not That Simple right now, and would like to see them play that live as well.

        scissor

do they ever play Scissor Lock? Man, I'd love to hear that.

And I'm glad they aren't playing Zebra Skin or Convalescent. Possibly by two least favorite dredg songs.

They need to bring back Whoa is Me.

          Re: scissor

they don't have a trumpet right now, or at least that's the excuse gavin is using for no whoa is me. we'll be lucky to ever see lechium live again.

i think right now the band is still in the whole gain as many new fans as possible mode. they want to play the songs that they feel transfer the best to a live setting where new ears will be more accepting. i really hope they pull out some rare ones for the next tour.

You think if I gave Gavin my trumpet he'd do Whoa Is Me?

              Re: Whoa

When someone requested Whoa is Me at the AZ show, Drew yelled "We hate that song" and Gavin replied "Yeah, that's just a cover song". I doubt they would do it even if he had his trumpet.

why don't they play lechium anymore? that's always been and still is my favorite song of theirs. well, that and whoa is me, but if they don't have a trumpet, i can understand that. but why no lechium?

what about traversing? I think I read somewhere that they only performed it once with shannon. would be great to see it live again <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT="">

                      Re: why no lechium?

i guess i look to a band like Pearl Jam. They know people are taping their shows almost every night, and to kinda make each night special they throw in oddballs.

Sure, they have their set songs, that are almost played each night of the tour, Even Flow is one of those, I think it's been played almost every show since 1991....the crowd expects it....but they change the songs they play almost nightly, at least by 5 or 6 songs...just to keep it real, i mean, some people go to more than 1 show on a tour and may want to hear something different then the night before....

They also toss in b-sides and rarities....like how awesome would it be to hear dredg bust out Papal Insignia randomly, or halong bay, or On again Off again (regardless of your feelings on it, just to hear them play it live, you never know). It would rock to hear Lechium or Propellers or Redrawing the Island Map....even if its 3 times on all tour.....i mean, if they played 1 of their b-side type songs a night...they could play 1 a night for 7 nights....that would be great!!!! They maybe toss in Penguins or Lechium every so often, or even the instrumental from the Orph ep (ORPH and it's pretty short, but long time fans would LOVE it).

I am ranting, but I think that bands who play the same rotation of songs, in different orders, or have 3 different sets they just rotate through on tour, are just lazy and uncreative performers....

I still love dredg, love the new album, and love seeing them live....but i would like to hear/see more variety when i pay the money for the ticket, the gas to get there, the beer while there, the food for the trip (if its far), etc etc etc....

                        Re: why no lechium?

I followed a band called "Widespread Panic" for awhile, they wont play the same song until 3 shows later. Although they have a song bank of like 300.

Oh and I've asked Mark why they never play Lechium, he told me they simply just dont have fun playing that song live anymore.

i understand...they've played it too many times, blah blah....

but, at some point, they really do need to play songs....that whether they are fun or not anymore....that the crowd aches to hear
