re: Bug Eyes (Hyde Street Acoustic Version) Tab

i honestly dont think it's in drop-d, i think they make it sound like D because there is an acoustic bass that every now and then seems to carry the melody of the guitar.

This was posted in the the thread about this song. And as you can see, he mentioned that there isn't a bass guitar in the song... So as of right now I would say that it is in drop-d, at least till we can figure out where that low note is coming from or how to play it correctly.

It's not drop D - it's the whole guitar down 1 step - D G C F A D. I am absolutely positive on this - I saw them do both Bug Eyes and Ode to the Sun live from about 15 feet away and both were in this tuning. (Mark switches guitars from the SG to a white Tele for them) I was specifically watching for what shapes he was using at which frets. Working on tabs for both...

I may also be able to shed some light on this. I taped the Denver in-store performance, and mark is clearly visible in much of the "Bug Eyes" performance...I'll see what I can figure out. I do know this--it seemed quite different from the tabs that are showing up here.

            UPDATE:

I've watched the acoustic show a little bit, and I have determined a few things. First off, the tuning is a half-step down. The first part of the intro that One Second Clubber tabbed is correct, except it needs to be moved down the neck to account for the tuning:

            |------------------
            |--10----8--------
            |------------------
            |--10----10------
            |--8-----8--------
            |------------------

The second part of the intro is played lower on the neck, according to the video, but I haven't figured it out all the way. I don't have a guitar in front of me right now, anyway, and I bet someone else can figure it out with a little effort.

The third part of the intro (the part that later seques into the chorus) goes like so:

            *
            ---------4---------
            ---------4---------
            ---------5---------
            --12----6--------
            --10----6---------
--8-----4--------- *This chord might be of by a fret or two, but once you play it, you'll easily be able to adjust--again, my guitar is not in front of me.

The chorus is pretty straight forward:

            -1-------------3----
            -1---1---1----3----
            -2---2---0----0----
            -3---2---2----0----
            -3-------3----2----
            -1------------3-----

If someone is interested in a DVD copy of this performance, I have it ready to go. Email me at [email protected]

I'll try to get a more complete tab up in a few days...this should keep some of you busy for a while.

            Cheers.

re: Bug Eyes (Hyde Street Acoustic Version) Tab

I'm posting the shit I just typed out in Notepad... the only part that I'm unsure of is the x010x13x octave at the very end of the Bridge section. It sounds like he's throwing in random notes, but for some reason I cannot hear it very well.

Anyways, someone copy and paste this and add it to MxTabs.net, or something. I was banned on accident. I re-submitted a tab once because my computer locked up and apparently they thought I was trying to send it a million times.

              Oh, well....

EDIT: It gets out of line if I paste it here.

              E-mail: [email protected]

I'll just send you the .txt file of it.

re: Bug Eyes (Hyde Street Acoustic Version) Tab

Yup, the whole song is a full step down. Just watched the video for it. Heres the chords. These are right, Im positive, it sounds exactly the same:

                Verse
                d|--------------------------8------------7-------
                G|-10--------8------------10----------10------
                C|-10--------10-----------9------------9------
                F |-10--------9------------7------------7------
                A|-8----------8------------0------------0-----
                D|----------------------------------------------

This is for when he exits the verse into the Chorus

                Pre-Chorus
                d|---------------------------
                G|---------------------------
                C|-7---------4--------------
                F |-5---------5--------------
                A|-3---------5--------------
                D|-----------3--------------

Clavian pretty much had the chorus right

                Chorus

                d|-1---------0-------------0--0----------3--------
                G|-1---------1-------------1--3----------3--------
                C|-2---------2-------------0--0----------0--------
                F |-3---------2-------------2--2----------0--------
                A|-3---------0-------------3--3----------2--------
                D|-1--------------------------------------3--------

Theres one verse where he exits to the Pre-Chorus with this:

                Exit Verse variant
                d|----------------------8----------12-------
                G|-10--------12-------10---------10------
                C|-10--------10-------10---------10------
                F |-10--------10-------10---------10------
                A|-8----------8---------8----------8-------
                D|------------------------------------------

For the Bridge, its just the same as the chorus. But for the quiet part, where he says "Im wasting all my time" you just play the second chord of the chorus quietly (the one that would normaly be A minor in standard tuning)

Then the Bridge goes into the Verse chords, but changes slightly at the end:

                Bridge End
                d|--------------------------------------------------------------
                G|-10--------8-------------10---------8-----------------------
                C|-10--------10------------------------------------7----------4
                F |-10--------9-------------7----------7-----------5----------5
                A|-8----------8-------------7----------7-----------3----------5
                D|--------------------------5----------5-----------------------3

Then Back to Chorus to end the song

                And thats it Folks!
                Facken love this song

                    my take on it

Ok, I hate having to tune to pretty much anything besides drop d so, after looking at everything you guys have worked out i came up with this Standard tuning version that I think sounds good. It's a little sloppy.

                    e|------------------
                    B|--8----6----------
                    G|------------------
                    D|--8----7----------
                    A|--6----6----------
                    E|------------------

                    e|--6----5----------
                    B|------------------
                    G|------------------
                    D|------------------
                    A|--5----5----------
                    E|--3----3----------

                    e|-------1-----------
                    B|-------1-----------
                    G|-------2-----------
                    D|-10---3-----------
                    A|-8-----3-----------
                    E|-6-----1-----------

                    Verse:

                    e|------------------
                    B|--8----6----------
                    G|------------------
                    D|--8----7----------
                    A|--6----6----------
                    E|------------------

                    e|--6----5----------
                    B|------------------
                    G|------------------
                    D|------------------
                    A|--5----5----------
                    E|--3----3----------

                    e|--6----5--8-------
                    B|------------------
                    G|------------------
D|------------------ that last one is a
                    A|--5----5--5------- bit of a stretch
                    E|--3----3--3-------

                    Pre-Chorus:

                    e|------------------10-
                    B|--8----10---11------
                    G|----------------------
                    D|--8----8----8----8--
                    A|--6----6----6----6--
                    E|----------------------

                    e|-------1-----------
                    B|-------1-----------
                    G|-------2-----------
                    D|-10---3-----------
                    A|-8-----3-----------
                    E|-6-----1-----------

                    Chorus:

                    e|----------1----1-----
                    B|-8-------1----1-----
                    G|-----7---3----2-----
                    D|-8---5---3----3-----
                    A|-6---5---1----3-----
                    E|------3--------1-----

                    or

                    e|----------1----1-----
                    B|-8---3---1----1-----
                    G|-----3---3----2-----
                    D|-8-------3----3-----
                    A|-6-------1----3-----
                    E|------3--------1-----

also, i've been listening to the acoustic version of the song on youtube
