photoshop help?

alright, i am not very proficient in this area, but what i am trying to do is engage in a little "culture jamming." what that means is that i am taking a sign--in this case, a flier--and altering the words a bit. does anybody have any helpful tricks that can aid me in identifying and matching font? also, i need a little more room to alter the flier, but the background is a bit busy (it has a pile of green peas) with white font superimposed on top of it. i suppose i could simply copy and paste sections of the background over it, but it would show upon a closer look. does anyone known how i could essentially rework the sign to have a blank slate with just the green pea background? in tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Take a picture of the flier so I can see. I can gladly help you. As for the font use www.whatthefont.com copy a section of the text and save it a jpeg and upload it to the site. It will find your font.

What I would do in this situation is:

1) Figure out the font - Gill Sans (a heavier one)

2) Find a completely new Peas background and adjust the levels and saturation to get a really close color and contrast to the original

3) Create and format your type to match the poster.

It should look really close.

i think i am going to have to take a picture of some green peas in order to have a high resolution image, but at least then i will be able to manipulate it well enough.

What resolution do you need to print it at? I have genuine fractals if you need a image sized up to 300dpi. Its pretty damn good at doing so.

see, these are all questions above my head. i just want it to look sort of 'official.' i think the use of my high dollar camera for a picture will enable me to print it off in such a fashion.

hmm, i am having a major problem trying to get the image resized. it buts a pretty big white border around the image.
