    che guavera on my shirt...check
    converses laced up...check
    thrift store hat...check

my favorite movie is garden state

kafka and kerouac are my favorite writers, even though I've never read anything by either

i may go buy on the road prity soon though i believe kafka wrote that or it might ben kerouac, whatev

two weeks ago i became a vegetarian, no wait a vegan...
    make love not cheeseburgers!

    the shoes on my feet...
    converse allstars aka chucks

the walls that surround my sleeping and mating quarters are covered with pictures of my favorite super indie bands such as minus the bear, the shins, the postal service, death cab for cutie, the arcade fire, sufjan stevens, oh and elliot smith!!! ( r.i.p.) i have all their cds on my ipod

who shops at hot topic? lol

    rap music is pretty terrible

there is no talent what so ever in the rap genre
they use a computer to mix or create all of there unlike the rock/metal/death/speed, and etc genres
instruaments are a lot harder to play then using a computer for everything....
but aesop rock is prity neat dough
check out the song daylight, cluster fuck for all you rap fans
its the only good rap song out there
    oh and
listen to some real music like belle and sebastian!

    i consider myself prity stylish

on a regular day i can be seen wearing my favorite shirts from my child hood with holes in my jeans
    and of course...
    my chucks
oh and a tie is optional
my friends and i were doing that way before avril lavinge!

karl marx and che guarvera were geniuses!
    what did they do again?

why can't anyone think for themselves?
yesterday i saw this kid who had the same exact hair cut i did
    w t f

there really needs to be more stores like urban outfitters, i dont see why so many people go to aeropostale or american although honeslty i own a pair of aeropostale jeans but my parents bought them

i think its a good thing that more people my age are shopping at thrift stores, but i wonder why so many people do now? i was shopping at thrift stores since i was a kid

just quit my job at starbucks

now im going to work at books a millions...
    right across the street

    racism is pretty much dead

i have a black friend or two and he listens to rock music...
he is pretty white for a black guy lol

haha, Zenjiro I love that you hate hipsters just as much as everyone everywhere, truly special manifesto man, brilliant!! except all of those things you are describing are not very hip at all at the moment. what you described is some garden variety hipster not the uber hipster walking the streets of San Francisco or Portland. you forgot, Fixed gear bicycles, fair trade lattes, chrome bike bags, and how hipsters diet seemingly consists of pbr and american spirits. now if you lived in a place where hipsters actually existed instead of a place where hipsters were just mid-west mockeries of their coastal counterparts I could actually say that you were up to date on your assessment of hipster culture, unfortunately you manifesto only covers very generic hipsters from the early part of this millenium and does not account for all the latest hipster trends.

Well this isn't very recent sweet heart. I wrote it when I was in high school and I was more or less describing the hipster there and not hipsters that I've never even seen.

It's like 95% of the population of Vancouver and Victoria under the age of 30.
I don't have the time it takes to recover from the day
I sit and moan and mope and groan and never have my say
A crown of thorns from which is born a little baby bird
To fly away and have its day is nothing but absurd

Saw a kid last semester here that dressed like a homeless man and had nasty dreds, but he wore some kind of designer glasses like prada or dulce gabana(sp) or something. I just knew he was a suburbia kid. Pissed me off.

the only thing that really pisses me off about people is when they're insulting to someone or something. everything else is just expression. i agree with anewkind, but i'll take it a step further: if you asked me, pretty much everyone in america ages 12-30 are fucking hipsters.

it's funny that every online community i visit has a topic like this. i get that the way people act (especially pretentious kids) can be off-putting, but it just strikes me that this counter-culture has rubbed so many the wrong way. there is a saying that only hipsters hate hipsters, or that only a hipster would call someone else a hipster. it makes a fair amount of sense to me.

So you're saying that you have no problem with anyone being a hipster unless they are insulting someone or something or do you just mean in general? I cannot agree with that statement that everyone between the ages of 12-30 is a hipster. Because I am far, far from what is usually considered a hipster. I do realize that what defines a hipster these days is a lot different from my little soapbox in high school. When I was in Manhattan visiting family I saw all different kinds of people who the average person would probably consider a hipster. The definition of 'hipster' is different to a lot of people and is usually based upon first glance of what the person dresses like or what kind of music they listen to.

Also, I never said that I 'hated' hipsters. The everyday hipster is probably nothing like what I said above, but it was just poking fun at what I saw and heard during high school. Idiotic girls showing me what they had on their Ipods filled with Sufjan Stevens, Bright Eyes, Cat Power, Sigur Rós, Godspeed You Black Emporer, and sometimes Tortoise thrown in for a good measure. Generally, from my experience hipsters (not the ones from my old HS) have been the most interesting people to have conversations with because they are the ones who are more familiar with the music I listen to and the movies I watch. I've received compliments from these types of people from my dredg shirts or Glassjaw shirts.
