Amazing. It actually got me to stop listening to new Dredg for a couple of days....but that didn't last long. Now it's both at least a few times a day.
This is like an overload of happy
There's a door open to walk through
All I want is just beyond
What if I could let my guard down
Into freedom, on and on
What if I could just let my guard down
What if I could live wide open
What if I could just let my guard down
And go beyond into the great unknown
I'm a long time 311 fan since their self titled came out, Transistor is one of my favorite albums of all time.
But this one... Is embarassingly bad. I listened to it one time through, shaking my head in disgust that they could actually get to a point like this where they have no self respect to just call it quits. It is cheesy beyond belief.
From Chaos was their last half decent album, 60% of it was decent.
Evolver was pretty bad with a few good songs on it, 30% good.
Don't Tread on Me only had one good song, the rest was dog shit.
This one doesn't even have ONE good song, it's all a steaming pile.
I'll never even listen to it again, they need to hang up their hats, and go out with at least some semblance of pride.
Yeah I gave up on this band way back during Evolver, the last 311 cd I spent money on. They just got cornier and cornier after Soundsystem, this album is probably the corniest to date. Maybe they realize that they are rich and don't need to bother with making decent music to appease their "real fans" anymore and they know that the whole Amber crowd will still buy their music anyway. As far as I'm concerned this band doesn't exist anymore and I listen to like 1 or 2 311 songs a year these days.
It seems like so many people get stuck on a band's old music they won't give the new stuff a chance. They are much more talented band now. But I'm not surprised to hear this opinion. It's the same from a lot of people on their own message board.
Dredg gets lots of love over there though. People have suggested a separate Dredg forum
