Re: audiophiles?
What kind of sound system do you have?
I just have a plain ole record player hooked up to the ole stereo and rip stuff from vinyl from there thru the... umm, thingy... actually quarter inch output for the headphones.
Not too keen on brands tho, I hope someone can steer you in the right direction...

Re: audiophiles?
Not sure if investing in an expensive turntable will make much of a difference... look for a direct drive table, as belt-drive turntables can tend to be a bit unreliable with playback speeds... and they do break eventually. Also, buy a really nice stylus - it'll improve numerous things like bass, mid, treble productions, wear reduction, as well as maintaining better track when gripping the record.
Otherwise, the rest is down to a getting a decent amp and speakers. You kind of need those two to make buying a turntable worthwhile for the "audiophile" experience.
I'm not an audiophile... much. I'll be one when my life decides to through money at me.
Stylus: Stanton's. Always gone for them. They last for yonks!Last edited by cribble; April 12, 2009, 11:45 AM.(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
