  • FLAC converter...

Anyone with a mac know if there is any way to be able to play a FLAC on an iPod? I did some google searching, but didn't find anything conclusive.
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

Change the iPod firmware to Rockbox (if compatible).

Otherwise, use xACT to convert FLAC to WAV/AIFF. Import those into iTunes and convert to whatever format you want. Don't share lossy stuff though, tapers will cut your nuts off and post on forums about how much they hate lossy formats. Blah blah blah blah blah. VLC also plays and converts them too, I think.

I'll post both in case pc peeps pop in. I do agree with erik, if you're on a pc Traders' Little Helper is your best friend when dealing with FLAC and several other lossless audio formats.

What is Rockbox? Why should I use it?

Oh yeah, from the rockbox page...

iPod 1st through 5.5th Generation, Color/Photo, Mini, Nano or Video:

Rockbox for the iPod models supports a large number of plugins, including games, applications, and "demos" - have some fun when you've got some free time to kill, open files with the text viewer, make use of the stopwatch, view some JPEG photos, perhaps watch a video or two, or turn your iPod into a desktop clock. Also enjoy On-The-Go playlist creation and adjustment, full file bookmarking support and much more.
