i mean yeah... normally I'd without hesitation support this blindly and say that anyone who is against it is racist or intolerant (especially when i am exponentially more attracted to other races/foreigners)

but think about it in a more macro sense:
I've gotten this point of view from Asian friends of mine and one from a Ukranian person who had moved over here...
it's really destroying their identity. if everyone mixes together there will be no foothold for long standing societies and traditions. we will all be one mixed bag of half-assed ideals and perspective with no real passion in any direction in terms of cultural identity.

is there really something wrong about cherishing what is different about each other? are we all supposed to be the same? clones? is the mere recognition that we are different immoral, or what makes us human?

sometimes i think it's all that really matters

i think the problem more comes from the fact that people, in general, don't uphold their ideals. a skin color shouldn't be what determines if someone believes in a certain thing/way of living...

but then again, the ones that really go all out in upholding their ideals, are usually the ones shooting other people on the 5 oclock news.

there wouldn't be any more racial hate crimes if everyone had a bit of someone else in their gene pool? eh?

hate crimes aren't because of race. people are still gonna kill each other no matter what

and having a different skin colour absolutely changes the divide between cultures. look at asian people, white people celebrating their asian heritage is insulting... it's like mocking their pride

i don't agree with this....i see your point...but i think we're looking at it from different angles. if i was adopted by an asian family, and raised in an asian culture, i don't think that'd be a mockery. white people embracing japanese culture based on anime shit...ie...those anime conventions....now...there's a mockery.

i don't agree with this....i see your point...but i think we're looking at it from different angles. if i was adopted by an asian family, and raised in an asian culture, i don't think that'd be a mockery. white people embracing japanese culture based on anime shit...ie...those anime conventions....now...there's a mockery.

first of all an asian family wouldn't adopt you and raise you in their culture if they cared about the purity of their culture... and if they did it would be frowned upon by the conservatives around them... so same deal, just less culture-y people

I can't expand it anymore, everything in that quote is just pure and utter bullshit. People will always have a cultural identity, it doesn't have to be based on skin colour, and even if they didn't, who the fuck cares? It's not like culture is inherently good

and also it's not up to me what people associate their culture with... people have an attachment to who they are and it includes their traditions and their ethnicity. don't blame me for this, it's not bullshit

And being afraid to lose culture is ridiculous since it will be automatically replaced by something else that "is" just as much as what it replaced
