Ars deserves some love.
Today I bought a router for my wireless laptop. Now, knowing what you all know about me, this was a recipe for disaster, but I did surprisingly well, seeing as how I didn't break it.
But I couldn't figure out how to get the router to work. I'd hooked up the cords and wires, but it still wouldn't configure my router. So I thought of calling the 800 number, but I thought that'd probably be useless.
And there was Josh on my IM. So I asked him if he knew about this stuff and had the time to help me. And he did.
But see? He asked a ton of questions, and didn't talk to me like I was stupid, and he actually looked information up on their website, and when I'd have to answer like this: "I don't know; it's not working; it says no connections available," he was completely patient.
I was cluelessly stupid enough to choose a name that's the same name as my router, so I couldn't tell which linksys was mine. And Josh kind of laughed and didn't get annoyed that I was taking FOREVER to get a clue.
And we got it working. And he walked me through it step-by-step and was completely patient about it. And it was only later that I found out he was in the middle of watching a show on TV. He let me interrupt it and helped me. On his freaking Saturday afternoon.
So now, my spouse and I don't have to share a computer. When he's on the PC, I can get on this laptop if I want.
Josh you kick butt. I owe you that fruit drink you like with Grey Goose. You're awesome. Thank you.
But what have you done for me lately?
