I'm not sure about the album yet.  I really like Anesthesize a lot, but the album as a whole does not grab me.  I know that Gavin is a great drummer, but I feel like he's not very creative.  I don't know.  I do think that Blackfield II is much better than Fear of a Blank Planet.

Bottom line:  I think this may be the weakest PT offering yet (I am a HUGE PT fan, by the way).
I don't have the time it takes to recover from the day
I sit and moan and mope and groan and never have my say
A crown of thorns from which is born a little baby bird
To fly away and have its day is nothing but absurd

So, erm, two sources for the Bristol show.

        1
        2

        Take your pick and enjoy.

I got my tickets for their upcoming show at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC.  The place only holds 1,000 people, so if you live in the region and want to see them perform at an amazing venue in a fun town, you better get your tickets now.  I have seen so many great performances there, from dredg to the The Smashing Pumpkins.  I claim The Orange Peel to be the best venue in the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast.  The sound quality there is second to none!  Rawr!  I excited!

                New EP and Extended DVDA

Porcupine Tree release a new EP in September called "Nil Recurring". It will feature 4 tracks (just under 30 minutes of music) that were written during the Fear of a Blank Planet sessions, including the title track featuring Robert Fripp on guitar, and "Cheating the Polygraph", which was premiered on the 2006 tour, but subsequently left off the Fear of a Blank Planet album.

                Full track listing is:

                1. Nil Recurring (6.08)
                2. Normal (7.07)
                3. Cheating the Polygraph (7.06)
                4. What Happens Now? (8.23)

Surround sound mixes of the new EP tracks will be included on the definitive Fear of a Blank Planet 5.1 DVDA edition. This DVDA will also include a special Fear of a Blank Planet introduction short film made by Lasse Hoile, and the video for the title track.

Both the Nil Recurring and Fear of a Blank Planet DVDA will be officially released on 25th September, but the PT Store will be taking pre-orders soon.

and the EP is sold out in the PT store now.  they are selling the rest on the tour and will rerelease it in a standard crystal case version later.

i wish i had pre-ordered it earlier now.

                    thanks for the files, tho!

3 of the 4 tracks are great. "Normal" should have been on FoaBP. "What happens Now?" is awesome. The title track reminds me a bit of WEDDING NAILS. Having being disappointed with FoaBP, this EP is a little bit of a makeup.

I was quite disappointed with FOABP too (so much so that I still haven't bought it), not least because of the borderline-unlistenable lyrics in spots.

"Normal" seems like a demo/alternate version of Sentimental to me - I think I prefer it over the album version, though. Still, I wonder if an instrumental version wouldn't have been better, lol - "Here is my phone, my car and my TV/I've got it all, but you can see through me" - this can't seriously be coming from the guy responsible for "Trains" and "Even Less"??

An interesting collection of tunes, but I'm still waiting for the magic of the Signify-Deadwing era to return. Really hoping SW gets back to more introspective and less topical/cliche lyrics on the next release.

yeah, liked the album but it pales compared to previous releases.
