Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy

    Give the album time to grow on you (if you have the patience, that is). The music is good, if you are able to disregard your expectations of what dredg should put out. I admit, on my first listen I was taken aback by the 80's vibe and my perception that the album lacked cohesion, but I soon got over it and appreciated CAMS for what it is - a collection of heartfelt songs. It isn't the concept album many of us are used to, but it is still Dredg. Also, the new songs sound awesome live! They don't feel out of place at all within the context of a live show.

    If you are not buying the album simply because you think it sucks then you probably aren't a Dredg fan, but a style fan. And that is okay. Just like sports fans, many music fans are bandwagon-ers. And this is the point at which many will jump ship. No worries, there are many other potential albums that will fulfill your musical needs.

    This is their KidA, Load, One Second (Paradise Lost - check the transition from Draconian Times to One Second if you want to hear ultra change). If you're not into CAMS, cool. Go listen to something else, or better, listen to the older dredg stuff and attend a concert to support a band that has obviously enhanced your life in a positive way.

    It made me kind of sad when I'd talk about Thursday, the band, in high school and everyone would just look at me and say something snarky about the day of the week.

        it's not that i dislike the style. it's that they didn't do the style well. they have in the past. just look at my screen name. obviously i like that style. i also love same ol road, mourning this mourning, it's not worth it. they just didn't do it well on this abum.

          Yeah, it isn't a matter of style. I also take offense to any implication that I am less of a fan. I am a fan, not a consumer.

                    I don't think it's fair to call anyone on traversing.net a "bandwagoner," regardless of the fact that you clearly think you're a better fan than some people. Loyalty is overrated and often detrimental to personal growth.

                      The only complaints I don't like are the ones that claim "The band got lazy." I've worked on games that got reviewed and I worked my fucking ass off and I've seen reviewers claim that me and my team were "lazy". Fuck that. Fuck those guys so hard. You don't have to like it, and I think there are some very valid reasons for not appreciating this album... but don't call the band lazy, that's just fucked up. You weren't there, you don't know how much was put into this, so as far as that's concerned, just shut your fucking mouth and stick to what you do know.

                        Didn't specifically call anyone a bandwagoner (an analogy was used) . . . and no I don't think I'm a better fan, but you feel I said that and that is fine. In regard to supporting the band, yes, those that purchase the album simply to support Dredg are better fans than those that don't.

                        Your comment on loyalty is too general to respond to other than for me to say that loyalty to a band and personal growth have next to nothing in common.

                        Differences of opinion here, Frank. You read what you wanted and that is fine.

                                it doesn't make anyone a better fan. all it means you have more money to throw away. i can't afford to spend money on things i don't like.
