    word.

haven't had a soda like that since i was a missionary. too bad coke actively works to ensure that two-thirds world nations do not have clean water so they will drink more coke.

(i actually found a liquor store that sold it here in denver. it made my day.)

Yeah there's a grocery store right up the street from me with a well stocked "ethnic foods" section that sells Mexican Coke. So good.

And I share Trathena's interest in the Coke/clean water conspiracy.

i saw it firsthand while in mexico. it is also attested to in a book i read a bit ago. give me a second and i will find the title.

it was not in the book i thought it was in. it was during a lecture entitled "this revolution brought to you by coke: neoliberalism and the global south".

That's fucked up. Someone should put a stop to that.

Oh, I totally believe that you read it, Auto, and I doubt you'd be repeating this if your source wasn't reliable.

This just sucks. I had no idea. I mean, taking advantage of nations that struggle with clean water? Vulturous, but understandable behavior of capitalists. But actively prohibiting nations from fixing their water problems in order to make more profit? Inexcusable, and why isn't this illegal?

I drink Diet Coke all the time. Shit.

well, the actual reason why i was trying to go get the source was to explain it more fully. isn't it all so crappy?

Auto: I'd like the source when you find it.

                    Gnomad: I doubt it.

coke seems to come up the most. pepsi does not have the same global recognition. for instance, it was very difficult to get a pepsi in south africa, parts of mexico, and slovakia. coke, however, was readily available. that does not mean that pepsi's not doing it in the markets they are in.

because they're doing it in countries that struggle to set up a functioning government that isn't corrupt to the bone

Well, I just wonder why my country hasn't made it illegal for our own corporations to do this.
