Is it just me, or did the internet and media kill the political activist? No one can stand up for anything anymore without their dirty laundry being aired... can't we go back to a time when, while no one realized it, the idea was more important than the person? What they symbolized was far more important than anything they were or did.

I just say this cause I think it's time for a new martyr. Democracy has just about run it's course, here.

You make a good point.  No one is perfect.  We do focus too much on the candidate rather than the message but in some cases the analysis and criticism is valid.  As a whole though we are too much a society that loves its spectacles.
