i had a rather odd dream, and i think i've had this same dream before.

a friend (a girl who i've never seen in real life) and i went to the cemetery to visit her sister's grave. it was fall - chilly, leaves everywhere. we walked through the woods into a meadow. we get to her sister's grave, and there she is: her face sticking out of the dirt and leaves.

my friend wipes away some leaves. her sister's face looks so set and concentrated. Almost worried. i kiss my right point and middle fingers and press 'em to her lips. the head moves. i say to my friend, "holy shit. Madeline's head moved. it moved." My friend (who's name i've forgotten) got angry and started slapping the face around. got up and started stomping on it.

the head popped out from the dirt and rolled away from the grave.

i said, "you battered her head pretty good."

and the head moves again. and soon there's a body there. Madeline's standing there.

i forget what happens, but she told us her story. we cry, embrace, whatever. and the body disappears. the head no longer sticks out of the dirt at her grave.

my friend and i, we started walking home, except now there's snow everywhere and all the leaves are completely bare.
