  • The Mars Volta

Just wondering if anyone is going to catch any of their headlining shows this fall in the U.S.

I'll be at Los Angeles's Detour Festival and in San Diego to see them.

I'd go see them if they came to norcal on this tour.

They probably will again before too long. Last time I saw them was right after Thomas Pridgen joined and they were still kinda iffy. The more recent bootlegs I've heard with him are solid though.

I'll most likely be seeing them at Bonnaroo this year, so long as they don't conflict with David Byrne.

Seven. One to change it, five to complain that the old one was better, and one talk about Gavins weight.

I would be thrilled to hear this news if Mars Volta had done anything worthwhile in the past couple of years.

uh oh. Dong copter comes in with the buzzkill.

im sorry you feel that way, but your ability to come into a thread about a band that you think "hasnt done anything worth while in the past couple years" makes me want to vomit out of my ass.

Amputecture was an awesome album, guitar playing was money, song writing was money.
Bedlam in the Goliath was a change of style for them but intensity in that album is the best they've done i think. At times it was a little overkill but thats the new drummer for you. He does some great things, but i think he needs to learn to chill out sometimes. But for about 90 percent of the album melts my face off.
