Actually, in a few weeks the senate is taking up the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act... the act that the Republicans voted against and Bush threatened to veto that would have guaranteed equal pay for women. McCain wasn't there the first time for the vote but had come out against it. I can't wait to hear his excuse to not vote for it while he pretends that having a woman VP suddenly means he cares about women's rights, especially after the two men running for the Democrats both cast votes to pass the bill.

Based of my reading of the Act, it doesn't do what you think it does. It is basically protection for existing laws to supersede a judgment by the Supreme Court that limited the time period in which discriminatory compensation could be collected.
Right, but the court overruled precedent. The precedent was that the period restarted every time a new check was issued, but they claimed it had to be filed within 180 days of the first paycheck that was inadequate. Basically they avoided acknowledging the inequality on a technicality.
