  • The Tent

Early this week caused I missed last week entirely. My bad.

    The Tent
Track 3 from Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy
    4:46 (unoffcial)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX8eY5YvF4w

    Lyrics (unofficial)

    THE TENT

We need some light, find the lantern
Unzip the tent, we can use the moon
I’m going out into the weeds
    To gather everything we need
    So stay, stay
Until I come, until I come
    Searching for a clue
Even the faintest ray of light
Can guide me right back to you
We have no choice but to run
    And to go

    I'll get ya

    Anything that you need
    Anything at all
    I’ll hunt down for you
    Then I’ll be coming home

Through the dark, through the dark
I’ve gotta get back to you
You’re the lighthouse on the shore
    The beacon is my guide
The trail of crumbs, I'm fueled
By your light, by your light
We have no choice but to run
    And to go

    I'll get ya

    Anything that you need
    Anything at all
    I’ll hunt down for you
    Then I’ll be coming home

Through the dark, through the dark
I've gotta get back to you
The distance we maintain is a stable foundation
The trail of crumbs is my motivation
We have no choice, but to run
    And to go

    Anything that you need
    Anything at all
    I’ll hunt down for you
    Then I’ll be coming home

Re: Song of the Week: The Tent

I think this song is a good peice of writing honestly. I dig the feeling the lyrics give me, but the way the chorus is so monotonous almost ruins the song for me.

The lyric "The distance we maintain is a stable foundation, the trail of crumbs is my motivation" flows so well... much like the rest of the verses really.

Its just that freaking chorus. blech.

I don't hate the chorus, I just hate how repetitive it gets. If it wasn't repeated, it would actually fit well at the end of each verse.

I actually really love the way he sings the song now, too. It took singing along to it to find that for me. It's a weird thing, but some sings just feel nice to sing and this is one of them. Once I got past the chorus, I realized this is one of the best performances Gavin has ever given.

I will never get past the chorus. That is just horrendous. Not even how repetetive it is. They needed to write a decent bridge there. The whole thing just does not fit. It even sounds somewhat out of key to me.

Also, I would prefer to hear the original Mike Patton. This is certainly the worst track on the album for me. Probably the worst in the entire dredg catalog. It makes me feel better that they didn't write this turd, but they should have tossed this one out like a shitty diaper.
I don't have the time it takes to recover from the day
I sit and moan and mope and groan and never have my say
A crown of thorns from which is born a little baby bird
To fly away and have its day is nothing but absurd

Well... that's one way of putting it.

Love the song, lyrics and Gavin's voice... But the chorus really bores me...

At first, I was turned off by the chorus like everyone else and would skip the song because of it, but honestly, I'm over it. The rest of the song is just too damn good.
How many dredg fans does it take to change a lightbulb?

Seven. One to change it, five to complain that the old one was better, and one talk about Gavins weight.

When that trailer was first posted someone mentioned likeing the song a lot more if the chorus was that abbreviated in the album version of the song - I agree.

I still like the song but that chorus does drag on for me. I too really like fthe feel, vibe, and tone of the song and Gavin's voice aside from that.

If he repeated two line twice instead of one line 4 times it would be much better. This current chorus is really unimaginative and does indeed suck.

Best song on CAMS... and I like CAMS.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Pretty much how I feel too. Really enjoy the song, but that chorus bein' so repetitive does drag it down a bit. But overall I love the tone and feel of this song!

I understand Dan wrote this song, but they could have changed the melody of the chorus a tad to actually give it an appealing sound. It's just an awful and ugly chorus that doesn't fit the rest of the song at all. Honestly, I go crazy thinking about how much I'd love this song if it had a catchy chorus.

This song relaxes me, despite the repetition in the chorus.

I don't think Dan wrote any of the songs alone. All I've ever heard is that he collaborated from the beginning on the 3 songs.
