What about sore legs/knees? Will dredg soothe my aches and pains?

Seven. One to change it, five to complain that the old one was better, and one talk about Gavins weight.

I've never seen dredg as a slap in the head type band.

Well, if you listen to dredg without thinking about the soreness of your knees/legs, then (hopefully) the sooner it'll go away.

Nearly the entire discography has appealed to different emotions, events or feelings. I can't pinpoint one and wouldn't want to. I know it's a fanboyish thing to say, but I would not be who I am today without dredg.

dredg is the first band i talk about/play to the person i want to go into a deeper level of relationship (yes, women!)
and it's like that for seven years now! and they all like it! and it works! try it!
              dredg is timeless.

My wife isn't a fan. She doesnt dislike them, they just aren't her kind of band. But that's ok, no one I know likes them. Fools, every one!!!

Not healing at all but it has created a timeline for me the past 10 years:

November 2001 - I went and bought Leitmotif at Best Buy because I had heard some buzz and the packing looked mysterious. Popped it in my car and by the time I got home I thought I was still on the first track because of the seemlessness of it but I had gotten all the way through Lechium, or is it supposed to be L'echium? Anyway, that was it - hooked! Went on a snowboarding trip that weekend that included 18 hours of driving and only 4-5 hours of riding - early midwestern season at its finest - but it was in my CD player the whole time. It ended up carrying me into searching for previous material/demos nonstop until el cielo leaked in...

June 2002 - el cielo was my summer CD heading into my senior year. I remember sleeping (or trying to sleep/pass out) in my car out in the country at a party/bonfire. Clear night sky, bright stars, and el cielo. That's my memory of that summer.

November 2002 - saw dredg for the first time in front of an Iowa City crowd of about 15-20.

Winter 2004 and Spring/Summer 2005 - listening to Coquette as I drove to and from my wife's university. Jamming to CWA and awaiting the leak during the summer when my best friend got married and I moved away for school.

2007-Spring 2009 - Hearing the first live recording of Ireland (still my favorite) and the various songs they played live and over the phone (Blood Stains). This transitioned into TPTPTD and my conclusion of my first year of teaching. Burning a shitty version of Lightswitch and I also recall leaving a track meet during a rain delay just so I could listen to my freshly burned copy of TPTPTD - loving the verse in Mourning this Morning (We sat and watched him, the saddened watchman....all alone...).

From there, laying on the beaches of Mexico and Jamaica listening to the Dortmund recording of TPTPTD played in its entirety, familiarizing myself with Upon Returning, playing a mix of The Thought of Losing You, Upon Returning, Where I'll End Up, and The Ornament (Live Rushdie version) on repeat over and over while cooking or doing odd jobs around the house.

All in all, I can easily tie together events of the past 10 years to which dredg songs I was listening to or what new kick they had me on the pursuit of new material.

Dredg helped me keep the bit of sanity I do have during a 10 month stay at the state mental hospital. El cielo was the first cd I asked my boyfriend to send me as soon as they trusted me enough not to break the cd's and chop myself up with them, swallow them or shove them up my vagina or bellybutton like some of the girls liked to do (come on. I wouldn't waste good music on that shit. If I was into that shit, I'd get a copy od blue sky noise by circa).

I missed the release of pariah while I was in there, though. I'll pretend that dredg cares and that they have forgiven me.

                          :-)

So basically, I can't say dredg has ever healed me. I can't even say that they slowed the progression of this terminal disease I have called "old-school manic-depression". But I bring them along for the ride and it makes shit more fun, even when I'm in the parts of the cycle that are no fun. I need to bring el cielo with me when I go into the hospital for some good ol' electroshock soon. It will make me happy. Happy is good. Dredg is good.
