Unlicensed merch?

Couldn't find a thread on this, so mods delete if this is a duplicate.

I occasionally check ebay to see if any dredg show posters or rare items pop up, and noticed a store selling a very generic dredg shirt:

I didn't think much of it until I checked the seller's other items and noticed they have literally hundreds of band shirts all using the bands' most simple logos, no art, all one color printing and all selling dirt cheap. Knowing that I've personally never seen this at a show or in an online merch store, as well as the fact that dredg usually puts some effort into their merch designs...this seems bunk and I doubt the band is making any money from these.

i dont think that band makes any money off of items sold on ebay... :-)

Well obviously. But they make their money considering everything on there from CDs to licensed shirts are technically being resold, where dredg has made the money off the initial sale to whoever is selling it. I get the feeling these shirts are just being churned out and put straight to the ebay store with dredg getting nothing from it. I could be wrong, I just assume they wouldn't sell the rights to their name/logo for someone to print low quality shirts all county fair style.

I don't think they're licensed either. Manufacturing & selling "bootlegged" (unlicensed) merchandise is common practice on ebay it seems. Somebody should ask the band and, if this turns out to be illegitimate, inform ebay.

I think the point is that the band should know in order to contact eBay and have them removed, because any money those people make is stolen from the band.

drew is not a stranger to ebay... those shirts have been on there for months now..
I totally understand your point, and agree... people making money off the band.. and the band not getting out of it sucks...

but my point is... if the band is that upset about it... i think they would have handled it by now...

ahhh... gota love ebay.. haha

That's a bummer. I really like that shirt, maybe I'll buy it at then just hand them twenty-something bucks onstage next time I see them. WHICH BETTER BE SOON.

That's a really sweet shirt imo, but you just know the screen printing is gonna be sub-par when it arrives.
