this really is good stuff. not that simple may not be as good as i had hoped but the rest are amazing. if you don't like matroshka then you suck. his voice is so incredible on that piece.

          Re: Catch Without Arms discussion.

I'm up to Zebra Skin... will add more thoughts to this post later.

Ode to the Sun: Incredible, sounds like it has serious potential as a single. The transition into the chorus is insanely satisfying.

Catch Without Arms: Sounds a million times better played at the correct speed! Fits on this album much better than it seemed it would before. Very solid track.

Not that Simple: A little more polished from the demo than I was expecting - that's a good thing, of course. Nothing too unexpected overall, though. Sounds good.

Zebraskin: Not sure how to react at this point. The vocals are out of this world. Only thing I'm not immediately pleased by is the lack of "fullness" in the chorus... if that makes any sense.

Tanbark: Was one of my favorites on Coquette and sounds stunning cleaned up. Slightly modified lyrics.

Sang Real: Absolutely gorgeous with the re-recorded vocals. Musically very similar to the demo (you can hear that certain elements of that recording were re-used verbatim).

Planting Seeds: Must be heard to be believed.

Spitshine: A huge, hard-hitting chorus that I can't get enough of, but the verses leave a bit to be desired IMO. I wish they had kept the last verse instead of cutting it out to repeat the chorus at the end.

Jamais Vu: This was always my favorite song between the live and demo versions, and while this is certainly an awesome track, I feel rather let down. The chorus just doesn't hit as hard for some reason. Hopefully I'll change my mind.

Hungover on a Tuesday: As good as it could have been. Exactly what you heard live with perfect vocals.

Matroshka: The verses sound like U2. Incredible vocals, though.

                Matroshka is absolutely beautiful.

Ode To The Sun, Jamais Vu, Tanbark, and Planting Seeds are the other major standouts for me.

I'm not sure about Zebra Skin yet. I think the effects on the vocals are kinda wierd, and maybe used too much. It's still a good song, but I dont get the same feel as the demo version. but hey, my oppinion.

Planting Seeds is amazing, as is everything else.
